Topic �The overall concept of this lesson is on the process of completing and submitting a Professional Development Plan (PDP) to become recertified as a professional educator in the state of Wisconsin. This is a procedure required by Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction every five years.

Target Audience �The lesson is primarily developed for those teachers going through the PDP

Target Audience �The lesson is primarily developed for those teachers going through the PDP process for the first time; making the transition from initial educator to professional educator. �However, any teacher who is required to complete a PDP to become recertified can benefit from this lesson.

Curriculum Links �This is a stand-alone, digital lesson, that should be presented towards the

Curriculum Links �This is a stand-alone, digital lesson, that should be presented towards the end of an initial educator’s first year of teaching. This is when the PDP cycle actually begins for a new teacher. �I see this as one of nine topics presented as part of the new teacher orientation training sessions offered once a month by the district Human Resources Department.

Materials/Timing �Initial educators do not need to complete anything prior to attending this training session. The plan would be for newly hired teachers to view this digital job aid as they complete the steps of filling in their PDP paperwork. This is a selfpaced digital job aid, and viewers can utilize the aid as long or as many times as needed.

PDP Cycle and quick overview of the components of the PDP Step 1 – Self Reflection Step 2 a – Description of School and teaching situation Step 2 b – Description of Goal Step 2 c – Rationale for Goal Step 2 d – Plan for Assessing Goal Step 2 e – Plan to meet Goal Using Glogster, each will have a short video with voice and visual cues. These videos will be placed on a timeline/sequence in order of the steps to be completed along with the title of each step and a pictorial reminder.

This will measure satisfaction using a quantitative, 5 -point scale for each of the listed objectives as well as the environment of the training session and the efficiency of the presenter (Kirkpatrick, 2006, p. 31).
