A: GRADING PRACTICES THAT BENEFIT ALL STUDENTS 1. Differentiated report cards are report cards that have individualized provision for student to clarify the meaning of their grades. 2. Changes to letter and number grades clarify report-card grades by supplementing them with other ways of evaluating and reporting student progress, such as written or verbal comments, logs of student activities, and portfolios. 3. Daily activity logs of students activities and achievement to provide ongoing information for students and their parents. 4. Standards-based grading model is a way to review gradelevel standards to determine whether an accommodation or modification is needed.
B: USING INDIVIDUALIZED GRADING WITH STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES • Researchers have identified two general types of individualized grading: 1. Grading accommodations that involve changing the grading elements, or what counts towards earning a grade 2. Grading accommodation that involve changing the value of grading elements. 3. Basing all or part of the grade on progress on IEP objectives 4. Basing all or part of the grade on performance on prioritized content and assignment 5. Basing part of the grade on improvement over past performance improvement grades 6. Modifying grading weights and scales
