Overview & Functionality • The website has a form page which enables the Guests to register by entering their details. • They can choose the room type and any amenities they want. • Guests will be able to see their details(including room number etc. ) after registration by just entering the ID provided to them • This information is gathered at the back end and is stored in the database.
Entity Relationship Diagram
Guests can request for rooms and based on the availability, they can make a reservation. Since Guests can have more than one amenity and one amenity can be used by more than one guest, we have many-to-many relation between them which is bridged by Amenities_Guest table in the physical model.
Javascript validation • For all the information entered, the Jquery performs validation for each field so that the information is appropriate. • After this step, the details of the user are entered in the database.
Database implementation ● ● After creating our database model in erwin, we generated the SQL queries to create the database. We made modifications so that the queries were compatible with My. SQL and ran them on the server from the command line.
Use of PHP to extract information from the database
What we are going to do next • After the implementation, we decided that we would add price attribute to the Room’s table for each type of room. Since this wasn’t already in the database, we included a table on the pricing page that shows a cost of type of room. • We took this into account when calculating the final payment for the Reservation.
