How do we achieve this? Ø This model of the hospital of the future will require that we bring our clinical teams together with developments in digital technologies, research and innovation, along with ensuring service integration. 9

Digital Technologies Ø Information technologies can be used to Ø predict needs; Ø personalise healthcare processes and treatments; and Ø follow up and consult with patients wherever they are one to one with the consultant or with the multidisciplinary team (remote consultations). Ø Hospital use Ø electronic systems (including electronic health care record) to allow management of: Ø workflows and patient data; Ø collection, storage and transmission of clinical data; and Ø viewing and processing diagnostic data; Ø robots in theatres to support/complete surgeries 10

Digital Technologies Ø Home use Ø Future Vision: Ø apps on patients mobile phones to support them in their care at home Ø wearable's which include sensors to monitor and improve patient health and well-being both during their hospital journey and at home. Ø Ø patients medical data is securely stored electronically and held by the patient. This can then be viewed and updated within any hospital and/or medical centre internationally 11

Ø Research and Innovation Strong academic linkages with Universities/Higher Education Institutes, along with industry partnerships, with involvement of patients and communities leads to: Ø a highly skilled workforce working with the most innovative digital technologies to support the overall vision for integrated patientcentred care with significant services being delivered in the community and at home. Ø These linkages need to be international with clusters of researchers/research groups from across a number of countries working collaboratively. 12
