Jeremiah 1: 5 -10 Ø God had planned for Jeremiah to preach before he

Jeremiah 1: 5 -10 Ø God had planned for Jeremiah to preach before he was born (1: 5) Ø Jeremiah says he can’t do it; he is just a child (1: 6) Ø God said, “Don’t say I am a child” (1: 7) Ø You will go where I send you, and you will teach what I say (1: 7) Ø Do not be afraid for I am with you (1: 8) ØThrough the words Jeremiah would speak, he would root up and destroy, he would build and plant the nations (1: 10) (Not because they were his words but because they were God’s words)

Jeremiah 1: 17 -19 Ø Prepare yourself (1: 17) Ø Speak to them all

Jeremiah 1: 17 -19 Ø Prepare yourself (1: 17) Ø Speak to them all that I command you (1: 17) Ø Do not be dismayed (1: 17) Ø They will fight against you (1: 19) Ø But they shall not prevail against you (1: 19) Ø For I am with you, to deliver you (1: 19)

Jeremiah 20: 7 -13 Ø The anguish of Jeremiah (20: 7) Ø His message

Jeremiah 20: 7 -13 Ø The anguish of Jeremiah (20: 7) Ø His message is an unpleasant one (20: 8) Ø Jeremiah cannot refrain from speaking God’s word. It is truth that must be told (20: 9) Ø There are opponents on every side (20: 10) Ø But the Lord is with him; this is his trust (20: 11)

Jeremiah 1 -52 Ø For over 40 years Jeremiah preached, from the days of

Jeremiah 1 -52 Ø For over 40 years Jeremiah preached, from the days of Josiah until the fall of Jerusalem. Ø Yet, he made no converts that we know of. Ø What did he accomplish? üSometimes, in the last days of a people, God wants to ensure that they were warned and that they cannot say otherwise. üSometimes a prophet like Jeremiah testifies the judgement of God to a generation. üJeremiah served the role God gave him: he preached the word!

Jeremiah 36: 1 -32 Ø Jehoiakim thought he could stop God’s word by destroying

Jeremiah 36: 1 -32 Ø Jehoiakim thought he could stop God’s word by destroying what it was written on. Ø But men cannot stop God’s word by destroying what it is written upon or by killing His prophets.

A Study of Preaching According to Jeremiah ØFulfill God’s plan for through the faithful

A Study of Preaching According to Jeremiah ØFulfill God’s plan for through the faithful proclamation of HIS word. ØDo not grow dismayed because of trying circumstances. ØDo not refrain from speaking God’s word, it is truth that MUST be told! ØThe Lord is with His people! ØGod will provide the increase! (Let us, therefore, plant and water) ØRegardless of what men do, God’s word cannot be destroyed!!
