HOPE An Anchor for the Soul!

Hope is not Optimism!

• OPTIMISM looks at what is SEEN. • HOPE looks at what is UNSEEN.

Hebrews 6: 13 -20 13 When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, 14 saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants. ”[d] 15 And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised. 16 People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument.

17 Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. 18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.

19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20 where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. ”

3 Keys to Having Hope like and Anchor:

1. ) “The Measure of our HOPE is in direct Proportion to our Proximity with God!”

Romans 15: 13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

2. ) Hope Waits…. . (Patiently & Expectantly).

Hebrews 6: 15 “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants. ” 15 And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.

2 Peter 3: 8 -9 (TPT) “So, dear friends, don’t let this one thing escape your notice: a single day counts like a thousand years to the Lord Yahweh, [a] and a thousand years counts as one day. [b] 9 This means that, contrary to man’s perspective, the Lord is not late with his promise to return, as some measure lateness. But rather, his “delay” simply reveals his loving patience toward you…. ”

Romans 8: 24 -25(TPT) “For this is the hope of our salvation. But hope means that we must trust and wait for what is still unseen. For why would we need to hope for something we already have? 25 So because our hope is set on what is yet to be seen, we patiently keep on waiting for its fulfillment. ”

HOPE = FAITH IN THE FUTURE

3. ) Look to the past. (God’s Faithfulness/Fulfilled Promises)

Romans 15: 4 “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. ”
