What are homonyms? • Homonyms are words that sound the same, and are spelled the same, but have different meanings. Example: Stalk 1. The corn stalk is tall. 2. Paparazzi stalk famous people. Homo = same Nym = name

Whole Group Practice: Why are they the same? • On your own sheet of paper, circle the Homonym. • Then, write how they are different.

Pair Poster • Get with a partner that read the same Anchor Book as you. • Create a poster using a clue that relates to your Anchor Book. • You must have two pictures, 1 clue, and the Answer next to each picture, explaining how it connects to your Anchor Book. • Your names, period, and date must be on the poster somewhere. • BOTH OF YOU HAVE TO WRITE ON THE PAPER!!!

Sample Poster: Clue: One is used to cook food the other is when someone investigates you. – Pony Boy probably grilled his food when he was in hiding. – Pony Boy gets grilled by his older brothers when he stays out late.
