Types of homework your child may be set • Research and prior reading to prepare for next lesson: needs careful planning, to prepare for a new lesson, must check its done. • Reinforcement e. g. language learning, exercises e. g. Maths, MFL • Application - integrate knowledge and skills e. g. essay or project writing • Practising - music, rehearsals, art work, dance, PE • Extending - applying ideas to new situations Maths, Science etc. • Revision - before exams which may involve additional work
Homework details will be recorded on Microsoft Teams Homework should include reading daily for a minimum of 15 minutes Students will have at least 2 days to complete homework When projects are done over a longer period, students need to plan their time carefully • Practice homework may involve formal homework from PE, Art, Dance, Drama. Students can also use these times for practising their instrument or other skills. • They can use websites such as My Maths, Seneca, Carousel • During exam/assessment periods, your son/daughter may need to spend additional time each evening for revision. • •
How can parents/carers help with homework? • Keep a designated homework area at home • Help keep a homework routine for your child • If your child is struggling with homework they need to speak to their teacher before the next lesson • Praise and encourage your child to help boost their confidence • Do get your child to teach you • Use the after-school homework clubs • Use Microsoft Teams to check your child's homework • Don't get worried by homework – if you are, your child will be too!
