Pencil/stretch jump- Stand with knees slightly bent and feet shoulder-width apart. Your arms should be at your sides. Bend your knees to get into a squat position and jump vertically as high as you can, lifting arms up vertically hitting the highest point of the jump. Bring your arms back into the body as you begin to come back down from the jump. Land softly on the ground with your knees bent.
Star/straddle jump- Stand with knees slightly bent and feet shoulder-width apart. Your arms should be at your sides. Bend your knees to get into a squat position and jump vertically as high as you can. Extend your legs and arms fully out to your sides at the same time in midair to form a star shape with your body. Bring your arms and legs back into the body as you begin to come back down from the jump. Land softly on the ground with your knees bent.
Tuck jump-- Stand with knees slightly bent and feet shoulder-width apart. Your arms should be at your sides. Bend your knees to get into a squat position and jump vertically lifting legs up with thighs as close to the chest as possible, knees facing upward as if in a tucked position, keeping back straight. Bring arms out to sides so they are in line with shoulders. Progression brings arms around legs when hitting tuck position in air.
Reflection: Watch and critique Watch these videos again to see how they are doing their jumps – did you do the same? 1. Think about what you did well today. 2.
