Hands and feet to self. Touching only your possessions. Changing clothes only– not primping. Using deodorant but not spraying scents. SOUNDS LIKE…. . Quiet talking. Respectful words. No gossiping. No screaming.

BRING YOUR PEN OR PENCIL TO YOUR SEAT. RETRIEVE YOUR FOLDER FROM THE PROPER COLOR BIN ON THE BOOKSHELF. 4. COMPLETE YOUR BELLRINGER ACTIVITY.

CURRICULUM OVERVIEW CREATION AND PERFORMANCE DANCE MOVEMENT SKILLS • Use choreographic principles, structures, and processes to create dances that communicate ideas, experiences, feelings, and images. • Understand how to use performance values (kinesthetic awareness, concentration, focus, and etiquette) to enhance dance performance. • Understand how to use movement skills in dance. RESPONDING • Use a variety of thinking skills to analyze and evaluate dance. CONNECTING • Understand cultural, historical, and interdisciplinary connections with dance.

GRADING SCALE • A = 100 -90 • B = 89 -80 • C

GRADING SCALE • A = 100 -90 • B = 89 -80 • C = 79 -70 • D = 69 -60 • F= 59 and BELOW **STUDENTS RECEIVING BELOW A 70 ON ANY TEST/PROJECT MAY COMPLETE THE GRADE RECOVERY CONTRACT. THE STUDENT MUST ASK FOR A GRADE RECOVERY CONTRACT, GET IT SIGNED BY A PARENT, AND COMPLETE THE WORK BY THE DUE DATE. COMPLETING THIS PROCESS WILL ALLOW THE STUDENT TO EARN UP TO A 70 ON THE TEST/PROJECT.

YOU GET ONE DAY TO SIT OUT WITH AN INJURY WITHOUT A DOCTOR’S NOTE YOU MUST BRING IN A CURRENT DOCTOR’S NOTE FOR ALL ILLNESSES AND INJURIES IN ORDER TO SIT OUT OF CLASS. WE WILL TRY TO COME UP WITH A CREATIVE SOLUTION FOR YOU TO STILL PARTICIPATE WHILE NOT USING THE INJURED BODY PART WHEN POSSIBLE. (i. e. creating a floor or hand dance so that you don’t put weight on your injured ankle/knee). YOU WILL HAVE TO COMPLETE BOOK WORK IF THE DOCTOR’S NOTE FULLY LIMITS ALL MOVEMENT OR A CREATIVE SOLUTION CAN NOT BE FOUND.

DANCE CONCERT THE SEMESTER DANCE CONCERT IS MANDATORY FOR ALL 7 TH AND 8 TH GRADE DANCE STUDENTS. THIS IS YOUR “EOG” FOR DANCE. WINTER DANCE CONCERT: NOVEMBER 28 TH ALICE IN WONDERLAND: MAY 15 TH PER ADMINISTRATION: ALL CONCERTS WILL BEGIN NO LATER THAN 6 PM DRESS REHEARSAL FOR THE CONCERTS WILL BE HELD FROM 3 -5: 30 PM ON THE DAY OF THE CONCERT. STUDENTS WILL BE FED PIZZA FOR DINNER. PARENTS MUST NOTIFY MRS. RETSECK IMMEDIATELY IF THERE IS A CONFLICT WITH THE CONCERT. STUDENTS THAT DO NOT SHOW UP TO THE CONCERT AND DO NOT HAVE A LEGITIMATE EXCUSE (ILLNESS WITH A DOCTOR’S NOTE OR DEATH OF A HUMAN FAMILY MEMBER) WILL RECEIVE A ZERO FOR THE DRESS REHEARSAL AND CONCERT GRADES.

COSTUME FEE • IN ORDER TO PUT ON A PROFESSIONAL CONCERT, A $40 COSTUME FEE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL 7 TH AND 8 TH GRADE STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN THE DANCE CONCERT. • THE FEE PAYS FOR YOUR PIZZA DINNER AND THE COSTUME PIECES NEEDED FOR THE DANCE CONCERT • DUE THE EXPENSIVE NATURE OF COSTUMES, STUDENTS MAY BE REQUIRED TO SUPPLY BASIC PIECES SUCH AS BLACK PANTS OR LEGGINGS IN ORDER TO MAXIMIZE THE NUMBER OF COSTUME PIECES THAT WE CAN PURCHASE FOR EACH STUDENT • EACH STUDENT THAT PAYS THE COSTUME FEE WILL RECEIVE 2 FREE TICKETS TO THE CONCERT. ALL OTHER TICKETS MAY BE PURCHASED AT THE DOOR ON THE DAY OF THE CONCERT FOR $4. 00 • A FUNDRAISER WILL BE OFFERED EACH SEMESTER TO ALLOW STUDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO EARN THEIR COSTUME MONEY.
