HOLIDAY BIBLE WEEK 2020 Vision- Seeing and believing Day 2 Healing the Blind
Blindness • What would it be like to be blind? • What would you still be able to do? • What would you not be able to do, that you really enjoy? • What if you were an adult? • Take a few minutes to think about this before moving on … ?
Back in Jesus’ Day • There weren’t even any glasses, and there was no cure for blindness. • If you were blind, you were not able to work. • You had to rely on your family for everything, or else beg for food and money from strangers

Bible Reading The full story of the healing in the video can be found in John chapter 9 verses 1 -41. This is a long reading, so it is included in the Activity Pack A shorter reading of Jesus healing a blind man follows. This is the story of Bartimaeus, and it is found in Mark chapter 10 verses 46 -52
They came to Jericho, and as Jesus was leaving with his disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus son of Timaeus was sitting by the road.
When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus! Son of David! Have mercy on me!”
Many of the people scolded him and told him to be quiet. But he shouted even more loudly, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Jesus stopped and said, “Call him. ”
So they called the blind man. “Cheer up!” they said. “Get up, he is calling you. ”
So he threw off his cloak, jumped up, and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you? ” Jesus asked him.
“Teacher, ” the blind man answered, “I want to see again. ” “Go, ” Jesus told him, “your faith has made you well. ”
At once he was able to see and followed Jesus on the road.
The Blind Can See! In both stories, someone who was blind was healed and was able to see. This was a miracle! Even today medical science cannot always cure blindness, and certainly not as quickly as in these stories. These stories show that Jesus was special – that he was God’s son.
Being blind to other things There are some things we do not see clearly. • We do not always see God, or think about Him in our everyday lives. • We do not always see people who are in need. Jesus can cure our blindness, and help us to see God and those around us more clearly God Others
Memory Verse Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. John 20: 29
