Time Limited Scheduling n n n Produce the activity network diagram. Draw the corresponding bar chart or time-scaled network. List the activities in order of increasing float. Draw an initial resource loading chart with each activity scheduled at its earliest start time, building it up serially in the order of the list produced in step 3. Rearrange the activities within their float to achieve a profile which is as level as possible. (This may require a systematic procedure if there are many activities. ) Use judgement to interpret and improve on the loading by changing the activities themselves.

Resource Limited Scheduling n Rule 1. Always continue with an activity that has been started until it has been completed, i. e. activities are to be continuous. n Rule 2. From among the eligible activities select first the activity that has the earliest date for the latest start time. If several of these activities have the same latest start time then select first the one having the shortest duration. Other finer distinctions may follow this. n Rule 3. Never allow a resource to stand idle if there is an activity that could be started. n Rule 4. An activity cannot make use of partial resources.
