ACTION PLAN Action plan (30 marks 750 -1000 words)

IDENTIFY YOUR TOPIC AND DEVELOP A RATIONALE, WHICH RELATES TO AN EARLY EDUCATION/PLAYWORK SETTING. Choose your topic carefully – make it one you are interested in. Have a clear rationale behind the topic – background behind why you chose that topic

INCLUDE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES. Have a clear unambiguous aim (this is your question) – in other words make it simple and straight forward so you don’t go off on a tangent. Clearly defined objectives which detail the steps which will be taken to achieve the aim. You must have evidence of the agreement with tutor – you’ll note this in your planning meeting notes.

IDENTIFY YOUR PROPOSED METHODS OF RESEARCH AND SOURCES TO BE USED BOTH PRIMARY AND SECONDARY. The Primary research methods you might use are observations, questionnaires, activities, experiments, structured descriptions, survey etc The secondary research methods are your background reading of books, journals, websites etc A clear outline and definition of the above methods must be included. You must include all ethical considerations when carrying out your research

IDENTIFY RELEVANT THEORIES/APPROACHES TO CHILDREN’S LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT, LINKING THIS KNOWLEDGE WITH SKILLS LEARNED WITHIN YOUR HNC You need to identify theories or research that backs up your aim. You need to link this in with children’s learning and development. Links must be made throughout your plan, investigation and evaluation to the following HNC units: DF 4 Y 34 Working in an Early Education and Childcare Setting DF 50 34 Children and young People’s Rights: Provision, protection and Participation DF 52 34 Theoretical Approaches to Development and Learning DF 51 34 Curriculum and Assessment in an Early education and childcare setting

OUTLINE THE WAY YOUR TOPIC LINKS TO CHILDREN’S NEEDS, RIGHTS AND INTERESTS. Ensure that you link in with children’s identified developmental needs Ensure that you link in with children’s rights and entitlements Ensure that you link in with children’s interests

RELATE YOUR TOPIC TO LOCAL/NATIONAL INITIATIVES FOR GUIDELINES. Link your topic to relevant policies and legislation. Local policies and national policies. Link your topic to ‘curriculum for excellence’

HAVE A COMPLETE TIMESCALE FOR EACH STAGE OF YOUR PROJECT WITH TARGET COMPLETION DATES. Put together a detailed timescale for the planning, development and evaluation of your project. This can be put together on a chart.
