What is the pencil? ? � I knows you all knows what a pencil is but do you know what the pencil will be by 2040 ? ? This pencil will is going to make things alot easier then going to your computer and search for things to write down this pencil will do it for you. . I thinks this is one of the bad ideas that will ever be made.
What year was the pencil made? � � The first pencil was made in 1564. Then in 1876 an American guy named Josep Dixen made the round pencil.
What the pencil was made out of � � One weird thing about lead pencils is that they contain no lead. Instead of lead in pencils, there is a mix of clay and graphite. Oak trees.
Kinds of pencils � � � Wooden pencils. Rubber pencils. Colored pencils. Fuzzy pencils. Shaded pencils. Their is many more different kinds of pencils you can buy.

Interesting facts about the pencil � � � More than 14 billion pencils are produced in the world every year enough to circle the globe 62 times. One pencil will draw a line 70 miles long. Pencils don't really contain lead. That gray matter is graphite and clay. It would cost $50 in labor and materials for a person to make a 10 -cent pencil. A good-size tree will make about 300, 000 pencils.
How long do the pencil last ? � � � The average pencil can be sharpened 17 times, write 45, 000 words or draw a line 35 miles long. The One pencil will draw a line 70 miles long. 70 mile is 369600 feet long.
The first pencil didn't have erasers � Pencils didn't have erasers on them until 100 years ago because teachers felt they would encourage children to make mistakes.
How the pencil is made � � � The picture at left illustrates the steps involved in the manufacture of a wood pencil. It starts with a block of cedar (1) which is then cut into slats (2). The slats are then stained (3) and grooves are cut into one surface (4). Prepared leads are placed into the grooves (5) and a second slat is placed on top and bonded with the first (6). This 'pencil sandwich' is then passed through a milling process (7) to separate the individual pencils (8). The pencil is painted and finished (9 & 10), a ferrule crimped onto the end (11), and finally, an eraser is crimped into the ferrule (12).
