u u 1917: – Smith-Hughes Act establishes vocational agriculture courses 1920: – Henry Groseclose, from Blacksburg VA, organizes the Future Farmers of Virginia for boys.
u 1928: – Future Farmers of America was organized in Kansas City, Missouri
u 1930: –The FFA Creed and colors were adopted. u. Corn Blue. gold and National Blue Corn Gold RGB Color Code #000099 RGB Color Code# FFCC 00
u 1933: – Official dress is adopted – The same jackets are worn today
PL-81 -740 u 1950: – Public Law 81 -740 passes – Gives the FFA a federal Charter. – FFA becomes an co-curricular part of Ag classes.
1965: – The New Farmers of America (NFA), the organization for African American Ag students, merges with the FFA u 1969: – Girls where admitted to the FFA – Now they make up 1/3 rd of the membership. u
u 1971: –National FFA Alumni Association is founded u Gives former students the chance to get involved with the FFA.
u u 1988: – The “Future Farmers of America” is changed to the “National FFA Organization” 1991: – Virgin Islands and Guam are granted association charters.
1999 u National Convention was moved to Louisville, Kentucky from Kansas City MO.
2006 u. National FFA Convention moves to Indianapolis Ind.
