What is the JIS? § The Washington State Judicial Information System (JIS) is the primary information system for courts, serving as the statewide clearinghouse for criminal history information including protection-type orders and outstanding warrants. § The Judicial Information System is a suite of applications that facilitate the adjudication of cases in Washington courts. c

Authorities for the Judicial Information System Committee Rule 1 A statewide judicial information system to be developed. [effective 1976] Judicial Information System Committee Rule 18 Specifies which records are added to JIS. [effective 1994, amended 2001] RCW 26. 50. 160 To prevent competing protection orders and assist courts when issuing orders the JIS database shall include names of parties in specified actions and criminal history. From 1977 until 1994, SCOMIS was the case management system for superior courts and JIS was for district/municipal courts.
