Time Period Of Anime. Early Japanese animation started in the 20 th century. . 1910 is when Oten Shimokawa, Jun. Chi Kouchi and Seitaro Kitayama became the early Japanese anime directors. . The first short anime was in 1917 when Katsudo Shashin showed for only 3 seconds and it was called imokawa mukuzo “the doorman”. . 1930 anime was established in Japan but suffered from other competitors such as people like Noburo Ofuji and Yasuji Murata who they still worked for cheaper animation companies. . 1960 when Osamu Tezuka simplified and adapted techniques from Disney to limit the number of frames in each productions. Otogi Manga Calendar it’s airtime was 1961 -164 the first anime television. . 1970 when manga started to become popular which many of them became animated. Ashita no joe was one of the most popular mangas of that year which has been animated into it’s own show. . 1980 s when Japanese anime became mainstream in Japan but not as much as manga did. Animes like gundam, macross, and dragon ball genres had a skyrocket of increasing popularity.
How the artwork has progressed over the years Japanese artwork has improved significantly as time went on and here is a visual timeline to show you how the artwork improved and to show the new techniques being developed over these past years. 1910 1930 1970 2000 2010 - present. Influences and Importance of Japanese Anime Japanese anime has influenced western animation significantly dating back from the early 1980 s. Mecha anime has influenced the american version of “Transformers” and mecha anime still influences the artwork and style of many american cartoon shows to this day. Japanese animators and western animators have worked together since the early 1980 s and an example of this would be the co-production of “Dungeons and dragons” animated series with “Marvel animation” and “Toei Animation”. Another Great example of western japanese anime influence is “Avatar the last airbender” and this particular TV show inspired industries like Studio 4 c, Production I. G and studio Ghibli to improve their own works like Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo into more of an Japanese anime style. Not just america has been significantly influenced by japanese anime but europe as well has been influenced greatly as the creators of the most successful european anime “Code Lyoko” specified that they were “ Influenced by the poetry and visual impacts of japanese animation”.
How Japanese anime is created Japanese anime is mostly done on paper and all the animation are hand drawn and they draw each of the characters movements by inch, page by page and when the animation is complete they scan all the pages in a scanner and then their uploaded to a computer and that's where they digitally color the animation. After that they hand draw and paint the background for each scene and once again they scan each background and review them on the computer. The final step would be to compile all the animations with the background and graphics.
Japanese Anime facial expressions Japanese anime characters have more distinct facial expressions that have physical features that are more exaggerated; for example, the large eyes and hair. The facial expressions on anime characters are different compared to western animation as characters who are embarrassed or stressed usually have a sweat drop and characters who are shocked or surprised have a “face fault” in which the characters displays an extremely exaggerated expression. Angry characters often display a “vein” or “stressmark” where lines representing bulging veins will be located on their forehead.
Different types of Japanese anime. Shonen anime usually includes a protagonist at the age of fifteen years old and younger. Their main genre focuses on fighting, adventure and action. Female protagonists are becoming more common in anime, some popular animes are of the creation of Shonen; for example, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto and Bleach and many more. . Seinen animes are more preferred for young adults between the ages of 15 -24 and they tend to be more violent than Shonen animes. A good example of a seinen anime is “Tokyo Ghoul” which is highly recommended for the ages of 17 -20 years of age.
