EARLY HOSPITALITY • Taverns were perhaps the first establishment to offer hospitality. These were first found in Greece and Rome. • The first fixed-price menus for food appeared in a type of tavern called an ordinary. • By the end of the 13 th century, the horse-drawn coach, carrying travelers on main roads, led to the development of wayside inns known as post houses.
