History of Ghost Box! • Created by Frank Sumption (Nov 5, 1953 – August 16, 2014) RIP
Ghost Box • History – Frank Box • Created 1995 • Rumored to • have one made in • 1969
What we know about Ghost Box • Nobody is an expert – Some may have more experiences • Radio tuners are used • White noise is inherently generated from continuously scanning of tuner
Continue • Scanning of either FM/AM is done either randomly or linearly, ghost box dependent • Some ghost boxes allow the ghost box user to manipulate the amount of radio bandwidth • Ghost boxes do not work as well in a faraday cage since they block RF signal (but EVP can be recorded in said cage) • Two way direct communication is produced.
What we don’t know about Ghost Box • There is not cohesive theories that encompass the full span of ghost box communication
What we think (laymen's terms) • The spirits are able to create the energy, with use of the white noise, to create a type of communication. • Why we think that? – We often get more EVP’s during the session that also correspond with the evidence that we get from the session.
How to make a box!! • Try finding one on Ebay (what not available)! • Quick and Easy Modification!!!! – That is what we want right? • Find a Coby radio model # Coby CX 96 • Right now you can purchase on Amazon. com for $24. 90 cents…Ebay Ghost boxes will run about $150. 00
Now to modify radio • Step one---Take it apart (This is the fun part) – Do not use the hammer-avoid the temptation! • Once apart, find the yellow wire
Grab your supplies for the rest • Soldering Gun – Loaded with Solder-not bullets • • Wire cutters A small piece of wire Glasses, in case you are blind like me One small toggle switch (optional)
. Now to create box • Find on the circuit board, there is a circle marked out with 2 small silver lined holes - Either one of these will work
Now to Solder • Take your small piece of wire and strip the two ends • Connect one end to the yellow wire • The other end to the hole we just found
Now to wire in our switch • Now find the button select on front • Connect another wire to both switch buttons and connect to a switch on the outside. v
Now you are done • Put unit back together and now have fun. Total cost about $30. 00 dollars • Directions can be found by emailing Mary or Scott • Or go to ITCVoices. com
Protocol on doing a session • Important things that will help with the session; Have everyone be focused on the session. – You will be suprised by the results when everyone is. It also helps to do the session when the area feels active, but is not necessary. • Try to limit moving around, have everyone stationary, this will limit the amount of contamination on your recorders. • Use the AM band on the ghost box, only use if you have active stations available. AM tends to work better than the FM bands.
Steps one and two Sorry these next few slides will be busy • Steps: • 1. Prior to the session, decide if you wish to try to contact a specific spirit or spirits. You may only have information about an event, such as an accident. You can use this information to direct your questioning. • 2. Set up your equipment. We would suggest using a couple of voice recorders, placing them away from the ghost box speakers. Set your ghost box up in an area in front of all members in the room. We like to leave an area for the spirits that is safe for them, an area where we are not at. To do this, we like to sit in a "U" shape formation around the box.
• 3. Open session. – Let the spirits know what it is you are going to do. You may want to do some type of protection ritual, if that is what your group is into. – We like to let the spirits know that we are only there to speak with the spirits in the location, the box is safe for them to manipulate in order to speak with us. Mostly, we keep it simple. – Remember, we are not trying to bring spirits into the location, so it is best to not try and do that. We are investigating a location to see what is there, and maybe gets some answers on the way.
Steps 4 and 5 • Now we turn on the Ghost Box and tell the spirits "hello, we are doing our session now. Our names are. . . Could you tell us your name? " It is good to have some questions already lined up. We like to give the spirits up to 10 -15 seconds to reply to each question. • 5. Now comes our test questions that we ask. We ask these so we can check the validity of our evidence. If we do not get accurate responses, then the session is not validate. The following are our test questions;
Test Questions • "Can you tell us the color you see on the device on the floor? The color is green. " This is a K-2 meter that we use just for the color. It is not an actual part of the process, we just use it for the color lights. Hey, if it lights up too, that would be great. • -"Can you say one of our names? Can you say the name Scott? " We ask for them to say one of our names and then give them a name to say. This takes away some of the randomness that sometimes occur on regular radio stations.
Responses to our questions • What color do you see? • Can you say my name, my name is Scott
• 6. When you get responses to your questions, repeat back what you hear so the spirits know that you heard them. Now you can ask them questions and try to get a response. It is also nice to ask them if they have any questions for you! • 7. Try to keep the session less than 10 minutes in length. • 8. When the session is coming to a close let the spirits know that you are going to close the session. – We always say, "we are now closing the session, thank you for speaking with us. Please say good bye when you are ready for us to turn of the communication box. Good bye!" We then wait about 10 -15 seconds for the spirits to say good bye. – Sometimes we do a short countdown “ 5, 4, 3, 2, 1” – They have been finishing this for us.
Clipping Your Evidence • GBC sessions produce a good amount of useless or "Garbage" tones and noise. • This becomes very confusing to the listener in the fact that you are hearing words and non words strung together in the same pitch and tempo. • So the communication or words do not apparently stand out.
• Clipping Is nothing more than the process of eliminating the "garbage" parts of a file like the one I explained earlier. It entails using an audio editing program ( Audacity or Wavepad, ect)to remove the unnecessary sounds or tones in a file that mix in and confuse and or detract from the actual word or sentence. Here is a be- fore and after example.
• BEFORE: This ER EH is Ar ahah thur EH • AFTER the underlined parts are removed: This is Arthur. • The communication has not been changed in any way only the obvious interfering fragments removed to give the message a clear path to be heard.
Some example of what we get • Name we got in the Ames House • I am Jacob- This is from a private investigation • “This is not your ship” From Turner Joy
Some More Audio • Deanna! • What do you Want?
Just for fun, some more • Elvis has not left the building • John from Walker Ames, Could this be John Walker? • Eulalie—Our team dog (Think Female Scooby)
Just One More, just cause it is good • Indian Chant
