HISTORY OF FLYING • When, where, who began?
FIRST THINKING ABOUT FLYING…. • 400 -100 BC – Greek wooden pigeon, Chineese kites and stories about Daidalos and Ikaros • 9 th century - Abbas Firnas one of first glider pilots, Benedict Monk Elmer had reached the distance 200 m with his glider • 15 th century – Leonardo da Vinci- principes of flying
FIRST SERIOUS FLYING…. • The first serious attempts were performed at the end of 18 th and during 19 th century: mainly baloons and airships • The first flight of the helicopter- steam power unit – 20 s and 13 metres high

THE WRIGHT BROS…. • Education – bicycle ingeneering • Glider beginigs - using curving of wing tips to rolling • Patent – “wing warping“ named: flying machine • 17 th November 1903 – first flight of Flyer one (known as Kitty Hawk) • The first flight by Orville Wright - distance 120 feet (37 m) in 12 seconds, (the most famous photo) • Wilbur Wright during the fourth flight (the same day) had reached distance of 852 feet (260 m) in 59 seconds.
KITTY HAWK…. • Power plant: Piston power unit, weights 77 kg , strong 12 HP • Powered by themself made propeller • Torque moment between propeller and power unit was relied by bicycle chain
1909 – LUIS BLERIOT HAD FLOWN OVER LA MANCHE
