Who created Dry Plate Photography ? • Dry Plate Photography was invented by Dr. Richard L. Maddox • He was born on August 4, 1816 and passed on May 11, 1902
Where was it and when was it developed? • It was invented in 1871, and by 1879 it was so well introduced that the first dry plate factory had been established
How was Dry Plate Photography significant ? • Dry Plate Photography is significant because it improved from the Wet plate since you didn’t have to mix chemicals with the dry plate and you can just carry the dry plate around
How was Dry Photography created? • the coating of glass photographic plates with a light sensitive gelatin emulsion and allowing them to dry prior to use. This made for a much more practical process than the wet plate process as the plate could be transported, exposed and then processed at a later date rather than having to coat, expose and process the plate in one sitting
