History of Computers!!!! The first PC ever made was the Simon, a computer made by Berkeley Enterprises in 1950. It was described at the time as a “book” and by 1959, over 400 Simons were sold.

RAM and MEASUREMENTS • RAM is Random Access Memory. It is used to make more space on your computer to read and write data accessed on the CPU. • A megabyte is a unit of information equal to 220 bytes. • A gigabyte is a unit of information equal to one billion bytes. • A pixel is the most basic unit of an image displayed on a computer. • A bit is the smallest form of information on a computer. • A boot starts up the computer. • A byte is a unit of measuring size. • An alias is an icon that points to a file, or application. • An icon is a graphic symbol that represents an application. • A kilobyte is 1024 bytes.

Viruses • A virus is computer software that spreads from one computer to another to interfere with the computer’s operation. • A Trojan Horse is a destruction program that masquerades as a benign application. • A worm is a malicious computer software that spreads via computer networks.

Laptop The first laptop was Designed in 1979 by a Briton, William Moggridge, for Grid Systems Corporation, the Grid Compass was one fifth the weight of any model equivalent in performance and was used by NASA on the space shuttle program in the early 1980's.
