Relating I heart NY to theories we learned in class Herbert Bayer quote that “typography is a service art, not a fine art” in which relates to Glaser in this design “I Love NY” when he first sketched his design it was to communicate a message and mainly help spread that new York city is a safe place and he used a symbol of a heart to express the love he has to NY Herbert Bayer said that I think relates to Milton Glaser that typography is an illustration and thats why in my opinion it made the I love New York logo popular cause the san serif type was strong and made the logo standout. In Ferdinand de Saussure’s except he states what Signs, signifiers and signified are and they employee automatically with Glaser logo design concept because signs are a language that conveys a message that is basically put into a symbol. This is exactly what Milton Glaser did. He wanted to convey a message from the big red heart, so he used a symbol of the heart in which is expresses the word LOVE. When wearing the I heart NY, it expresses the love and admire of being in NY. I heart NY is not only a san serf type logo with a heart it is considered an identity
