Ambulatory Committee Working with leaders from large healthcare enterprises, small physician offices and the military health system, plus consulting and vendor communities, the Ambulatory Information Systems Steering Committee expands HIMSS’ ability to increase the quality and cost-effectiveness of patient care by removing barriers to IT adoption, and increasing the use of EHRs and Business Systems Integration in physician offices and outpatient care settings.

Paperless Clinics, Chairperson, Karen Colafari, KJ Consulting, RN, MBA Ø Purpose is to develop a White Paper highlighting successful Business Cases where HIT has resulted in Ambulatory paperless clinics by June 30, 2007.

Practice Leadership Task Force Chair - James Morrow, MD VP and CIO, North Fulton Family Medicine, P. C. , GA Purpose: Working towards developing relationships with state medical societies to educate them on who we are and what we do. ØIncrease ambulatory membership via outreach efforts. ØDevelop relationships with state medical societies and provide education on HIMSS Ambulatory HIS efforts. ØDevelop educational materials on EMR adoption and implemntation. Education & Virtual Conference Task Force Chair - Jennifer Jarriel CIO, Baylor College of Medicine, TX Work with the HIMSS Education team to expand education offerings to the ambulatory community through audio-conferences, webinars and ambulatory focused Education offerings at annual conference. Ø Supply Ambulatory focused content for 2007 Virtual Conferences. Work Group: Internet knowledge Resource

Community Health Organization Task Force Chair - Lyman Dennis, CPHIMSS, FHIMSS CIO, Partnership Health Plan of California Provide a forum for the providers of the nation's 30, 000 Community Health Centers to meet, network, and develop an outreach effort that allows the providers to explore topics of common interest, learn from best practices and provide a collective voice advocating for information technologies for populations at risk. ØThe Community Health Organizations Task Force will be working on developing a survey/database of community health organizations efforts. Workgroups: Visioning, Membership, Survey/database, EHR Case Study, Advocacy & Vendor Guidance
