DRESS CODE l T-Shirts l l Hair l l l No shirts with profanity, alcohol, drugs, weapons, nudity or gang affiliation. Must be out of your face, we must be able to see your eyes No ‘unnatural’ hair color Facial Hair l l No mustache, goatee or designs If you need to shave, you will be sent to your AP’s office and you will have to shave here at school, with our razors and shaving cream
DRESS CODE l Shorts/Skirts/Jeans/Dresses l The length of shorts or skirts must be no shorter than 3. 5 inches (length of ID card) above the top of the knee. l Sagging pants/shorts are not allowed. They must fit around your waist naturally or with a belt. If they are sagging, you will be sent to your AP and receive a ziptie to tie them together. l Earrings l Boys may not wear earrings or band-aides to cover them up l No piercings other than in the ears are allowed (no nose rings) l Head Coverings l No hats, caps, beanies or bandanas may be worn in the building at any time. l Hoodies may not be covering your head during the school day
DRESS CODE l l l Pajama Pants/Sleepwear are not allowed Shoes must be worn Tattoos must be covered Holes in jeans: No skin should be showing above the knee Undergarments should not be visible at any time. No sunglasses allowed in the building
DRESS CODE LADIES!!! l Tank Tops – straps must be 2 inches wide (width of ID card) l l l No spaghetti strap shirts No bra straps showing No tube tops l Midriff may not be exposed l Cleavage l l Low cut shirts or any shirt that exposes your bare chest or cleavage will not be allowed ABSOLUTELY NO SHORT NIKE/SOFFE SHORTS during school hours. l Any short you wear must be 3. 5 inches (ID Card length) from the top of the knee
DRESS CODE l Dress Code Violation Consequences l l 1 st offense = verbal warning 2 nd offense = Saturday class Offenses after this will be considered insubordination and may result in ISS In all cases of dress code violation you will be asked to change, call home for extra clothes. If the violation cannot be corrected, you will be sent to ISS or suspended off campus for the day.
TARDIES l Tardies are cumulative (not per class)! l Tardies start over each semester. l There are no warnings or free tardies. l Tardy Consequences l 1 st – 4 th Tardy = D-Hall l 5 th – 7 th Tardy = Thursday or Saturday Class l Excessive Tardies will be considered insubordination and may result in ISS. l Tardies to 1 st Period (2 nd on Thursdays) may result in a student’s parking privileges being revoked. l When using the tardy pass, the tardy still counts toward your overall number of tardies.
ELECTRONIC DEVICES l AHS has Green Zones and Red Zones. l Green Zones: Areas in which electronic devices are not restricted unless they are being used inappropriately (Hallways, Cafeteria, and Flex Areas) l Red Zones: No electronic devices are allowed to be in use. All classrooms are Red Zones unless you are given specific permission by the teacher. Red and Green Zone cards will be in use by the teachers in each classroom. l Appropriate and Inappropriate use of electronic devices l Only allowed one ear bud in at a time
TECHNOLOGY: INAPPROPRIATE USE/HARASSMENT AND “SEXTING” • Students are prohibited from possessing, sending, forwarding, posting, accessing or displaying electronic messages that are abusive, obscene, sexually oriented, threatening, harassing, damaging to another student’s reputation or illegal. • This prohibition also applies to conduct off school property, whether the equipment used to send such messages is districtowned or personally owned, if it results in a substantial disruption to the educational environment. • Any person taking, disseminating, transferring, possessing, or sharing obscene, sexually oriented, lewd, or otherwise illegal images or other content, commonly referred to as “sexting, ” are in violation of this policy and may, in certain instances be reported to law enforcement.
USE/ALTERING RECORDS/UNAUTHORIZED VIEWING l l l Do not give your log-in information out to anyone. Computer activity from your log-in is considered to be you. Everything students do on a computer can be tracked. Do not download ANYTHING Do not install software Computer usage violations will result in consequences
LUNCH l l l Clean up after yourself l All trash should be picked up and thrown away before you leave your table. l You will be asked/told to stay and clean if this isn’t done…you will not receive a pass if you are late. Behavior l Treat all workers and custodians with respect Lunch is in the Cafeteria and back Patio ONLY l You may not spend your lunch time in the hallways, flex area, etc. If you are found in these areas, you will be considered as out of designated area and assigned a consequence. LUNCH ON THURSDAYS IS 4 th PERIOD
UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR l Bullying and Harassment l Sexual Harassment/Comments/Gestures l PDA- No smooching allowed. You will receive an automatic Thurs/Sat Class l Behavior on Buses (everything on the bus is under video surveillance)
UNEXCUSED ABSENCES l If you are absent and do not bring a note signed by your parent and give to the attendance office, the absence is recorded as an unexcused absence. l Students have 48 hours after their return to school to bring an absence excuse note.
UNEXCUSED ABSENCES l Unexcused absences, if not corrected within the 48 hour timeline, will remain an unexcused absence. l On your 3 rd unexcused absence, the District will issue a warning letter
TRUANCY l l l Truancy is considered any absence without permission of parent or school authority. We run a daily unexcused absence/truancy report in each house. Consequences l l l Thursday or Saturday Class Multiple violations can result in ISS You may not receive a grade higher than 70 for work you miss
ATTENDANCE FOR CLASS CREDIT l 90% Rule: Students must be in attendance 90% of the days a class is offered in order to receive credit for the course. l If a student is absent 9 or more days per semester (excused and unexcused combined) they will lose credit for the class. Regardless of the grade earned in the class.
ATTENDANCE FOR CLASS CREDIT l Assistant Principals will monitor student’s attendance, and you will be notified of the required steps to regain credit. l You will be required to complete 1 hour of seat time for each period you are absent after the 8 th absence.
COLLEGE DAYS l Juniors and Seniors Only l 2 College days each year l Must have a signed letter on college letterhead l Days do not roll over
EXEMPTION POLICY l l Grades l Must have a semester average of 80 or above Attendance l May not have more than 3 absences l l l School related absences do not count against you Behavior l No more than one Saturday class l No ISS Limit l You may exempt 2 per semester l You may not exempt the same final twice EOC Courses are not allowed to exempt Dual Credit l You may exempt Lone Star finals based on these guidelines
STUDENT PARKING l l l Parking permits are required to park on campus If you need a permit, go to Red House 1 Parking is First Come/First Serve l l You may not park in front of the school or back teacher lot Reckless driving is not allowed l l l No loud music, speeding, donuts etc Your parking privileges will be revoked Parking Violations l Can result in discipline and/or revocation of parking privileges. l Can also result in getting your car towed
LOCKERS l Do not share your combination l l Keep it clean l l Anything found in your locker is considered YOUR property Throw trash away, don’t keep food in the locker We are not responsible for stolen items Don’t go to your locker every period PE lockers- Do not leave your stuff out during PE
ID BADGES l ID badge must be worn at all times. l ID Badge must be kept on lanyard and worn in plain sight around the neck with picture facing out. l Students who lose, damage or deface their badge will be assessed a $5. 00 replacement fee for badge and $2. 00 for a replacement lanyard. l Students without ID badge will not be allowed to enter class and will be charged $2. 00 for a temporary badge to be worn visible on the chest.
ID BADGES l If you forget your ID badge, you must get a temporary badge from a house secretary before entering class. If you are tardy because you had to get a temporary badge, then you will be assigned the appropriate consequence for the tardy. l Failure to get a temporary badge before school starts will result in a dress code violation. l Failure to have your ID around your neck will result in an automatic D-Hall. l The ID you wear must be a 2015 -16 ID badge
FIGHTING AND PROFANITY l Fighting will not be tolerated l l l Fighting is considered striking first or striking back 1 st fight = Off campus suspension and 5 days of ISS 2 nd fight = Recommendation for Long Term assignment at discipline center Humble ISD Police will be notified and citation may be issued. Profanity l l l Any profanity used = Thurs or Saturday Class May result in a citation Any profanity directed at ANY staff member = ISS or Long Term recommendation
TOBACCO AND VANDALISM l Tobacco l l l No tobacco is allowed on campus…. even if you are 18. It is a violation of the Humble ISD code of conduct. If you are below the age of 18, the police will be notified and a citation may be issued. Vandalism
CHEATING l l Letting another student copy work or copying someone else’s Using materials during test when not allowed Having your phone or other electronic device out during a test Consequences l l l 0 for the assignment you cheated on Thurs or Saturday class Ineligible for NHS
CHECKING OUT AND IN l l l Bring a note to your House secretary with parent signature and phone number We will call to verify You will get a check out pass You MUST check out through the attendance office or you will be considered TRUANT Anytime you enter or leave the building during the school day, you must go through the attendance office.
EARLY RELEASE AND END OF SCHOOL DAY l If you have early release, you must leave campus at the beginning of 7 th period. l If you have late arrival, and are on campus prior to the bell to 2 nd period, you are to report to the cafeteria. l Students who do not have official school business on campus must be off school grounds by 3: 00 pm. l The gates will close at 3: 00 pm each day.
NURSE l l Students are not allowed to carry around medications on their person. All medications (prescriptions and nonprescription) must be registered through and kept in the nurse’s office. You must have a pass from a teacher to enter the nurse’s office. Do not contact your parents from your cell phone if you are sick…ask for a pass from your teacher and use the nurse’s phone.
D-HALLS AND THURS/SAT CLASS D-Hall- Meet outside the cafeteria l Monday 3: 00 - 3: 45 l Tuesday 3: 00 - 3: 45 l Wednesday 6: 30 -7: 15 l Wednesday 3: 00 - 3: 45 Failure to attend a D-Hall will result in an automatic Thurs/Sat class, NO EXCEPTIONS l l Thursday and Saturday Class l Thursday: 3: 00 – 6: 00 pm Meet in Blue LGI l Saturday: 8: 00 -11: 00 am Meet at Front of School Failure to attend Thurs/Sat Class will result in an ISS placement.
D-HALLS AND THURS/SAT CLASS EXPECTATIONS l l l Students must have an ID to enter a D-Hall or Thurs/Sat class Students must arrive on time to be admitted You must bring something to work on or read (No magazines) Disruptive behavior and sleeping will result in dismissal, and no credit for attendance All school rules apply No electronic devices allowed
