WHAT IS BULLYING? • Bullying is harassment- intentional harm that is repeated and systematic • This includes physical, mental, emotional, and electronic harm

WHAT IS PHYSICAL BULLYING? • Physical bullying is a form of bullying that involves some sort of violence against another person • This can include: • • Fighting Pushing Practical jokes Stealing Sexual harassment. Tripping Spitting

WHAT IS EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL BULLYING? • Emotional bullying involves behaviors that upset, exclude, or embarrass a person • This can include: • Writing nasty notes • Tormenting • Threatening • Humiliation • Social embarrassment

CYBERBULLYING • The use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature. • This can include: • mean text messages or emails • rumors sent by email or posted on social networking sites • embarrassing pictures, videos, websites, or fake profiles

CONSEQUENCES THERE IS NO TOLERANCE FOR BULLYING AT AR! • If you are found guilty, your punishment may be • ISS • OSS • Expulsion • Legal action

If you are being bullied. . . Don't be afraid to let someone know that you are being bullied—other people can be a great help. Always tell a trusted adult how you feel and what is going on. At school, a favorite teacher or school counselor is a great option. Everyone at Ashley Ridge wants to keep our foxes safe and happy!

If you or someone you know is being bullied, do not get physical because… Using physical force (like kicking, hitting, or pushing) shows your anger, and you can never be sure what the bully will do in response. You are more likely to be hurt or get into trouble if you use violence. Keep in mind that you can stand up for yourself in other ways, such as gaining control of the situation by walking away or by being assertive in your actions.

If you know somebody being bullied. . . Sometimes people do not say or do anything because they are afraid they will be bullied as well. If you don't do anything, the bullying will only continue. Do not stand by and let bullying happen at your school! Talk to your teachers about taking action against bullying.
