Security Reloaded project Notwithstanding the area's enviable crime statistics, the HGC believed that nearly 10 years since its last assessment, it was a good time to re-evaluate the security solution to determine whether it accords with the requirements of the community. A subcommittee comprising members of HGC and other residents not currently members was established after last AGM to assess the HGC security solutions and make recommendations 19 HGC AGM Presentation 10/31/2021

Factors considered 10 years since last comprehensive security assessment Many changes to the South African socio-political landscape during this time; Change in the trends of criminal behaviour (increased follow home and cat burglar style crimes) Closure of George Lea park and the increased number of homeless people living on the green belt (the Spruit) Increased measures to address crime, generally, in neighbouring suburbs (for example, Bordeaux, Hurlingham Manor, Parkmore South), may expose our suburb to be regarded as a soft target by criminals.
