Success Stories (1) A typical small-scale SME-project at the interface of machine industry and life sciences: Willy A. Bachofen AG Maschinenfabrik Institute of Pharma Technology at the School of Life Sciences Muttenz (HLS-FHNW) Prof. Dr. -Ing. Berndt Joost The activities of the Institute cover pharmaceutical formulation development as well as the optimization of manufacturing processes including lean pharmaceutical manufacturing. The SME, a manufacturer specialised in milling & fine particles technology with its world renowned agitator bead mills is a successful partner for the cosmetics, paint and coatings industry, prepares itself to develop customer oriented solutions for the pharma sector. Value stream Manu. Future-CH informed about possible funding instruments and helped in preparing the CTI grant proposal. Result: Project (machine development) received funding, currently running successfully.

Success Stories (2) Ensuring profitable production in Switzerland – A case of an automation project with a large company: 2 Universities of Applied Sciences Institute of Mechatronic Systems, ZHAW, Winterthur Prof. H. -W. Van de Venn A large airplane manufacturer interested in reducing production costs by automation of assembly processes. Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. CC Mechanical Systems, HSLU, Lucerne Prof. J. Habegger Manu. Future-CH brought together the partners, organized a workshop and helped in preparing the CTI grant proposal for a feasibility study. Result: Feasibility study received funding, was successfully completed and now a full CTI proposal is submitted, again with support from Manu. Future-CH.

Success Stories (3) An example from the microfactory domain: 1 Research Institution CSEM Alpnach, Dr. P. Steiert 1 University of Applied Sciences 1 SME manufacturing assembly systems develops a system for flexible feeding of small components with applications in the watch industry, medical and semiconductor sector Asyril SA Manu. Future-CH provided support in preparing the CTI grant proposal(s). Result: Project was funded and was successfully accomplished. Currently a follow-up project is also running successfully.
