Y. S OUR PRODUCT: HERSELF™ DOLLS HERself™ Dolls aim to provide our society with an eclectic array of realistic looking dolls. By realistic we mean diverse, like the real world itself. Our dolls have been created to showcase numerous different ethnicities and body shapes. The point of this is to teach/enforce the idea that no matter how different you may look from the ideal standard of beauty, you are beautiful. One misconception is that dolls are just toys and have no influence whatsoever on children. Adults are often seen giving young girls toys such as fake kitchens, or nurse kits, and even toy babies prepare them for the real world from a young age. Dolls are similar but what they teach girls, is that is desirable to be incredibly thin.
L. J , I. B PROJECT OVERVIEW : The problem: Our problem is not the dolls themselves but how lines of dolls are created to look identical, and the effects they have on how young girls negatively perceive their own bodies. Young girls who are still developing mentally and physically are more susceptible to compare themselves to a doll they play with frequently. This causes girls who do not identify with the dolls to feel less confident about themselves. The purpose of our dolls: to influence young girls and teach them that it is okay to not look like everyone else and it could potentially create a society where everyone accepts themselves and others around them. Benefits/Impact of our dolls: Could potentially prevent racism, bullying and young girls comparing themselves to others. Helps young girls to realize that they are beautiful the way they are. Inspires girls to pursue their career of choice. TARGET AUDIENCE: YOUNG GIRLS & THEIR PARENTS START OFF AREA: CALIFORNIA

I. B CONCEPT ART
America is a very fashion forward country, we are heavily influenced by trends and physical appearance. Due to this people go to extreme lengths to fit into the social norm. This has caused 24 million people to have an unhealthy relationship with food which is necessary for survival. There has been 40 billion dollars spent on dieting products in a single year. The money being spent could be used for healthier food, rent, academic purposes and luxury products.
Y. S Out of all 50 states, California has the highest amount of recorded eating disorders. There over 300, 000 more women with eating disorders in California than in any other state. This is highly influenced by Los Angeles and Hollywood. We believe that by targeting California first it will have a ripple effect to other states to promote a healthier lifestyle.
J. P MORE STATISTICS WITHIN OUR OWN SCHOOL : Eating disorders are incredibly personal and it is shocking that there is such a high amount of students in our senior class who are not confident with how their body looks. By targeting eating disorders and body dysmorphia in adolescents it will allow them to focus their attention on their studies.
REFLECTION What have we learned from this project? J. P Creating a desirable product Money Body image stems from 5 -9 What would you have done differently if you could do this again? I.
