Encourage your child to read other materials at home for example recipes, film reviews, jokes etc It is important to talk about what they have read.

Maths Kirfs • Each Friday the pupils in class 4 have a mental maths test and the KIRFS help them to improve their work in all areas of maths but particularly in mental maths. • Times tables are also tested each week. Help the children to become fluent in their responses. • Web sites such as conquer maths are fun and help them to improve.

We no longer have BIG Talk as a home work but instead this is done in class before the BIG WRITE on Thursday mornings. You can help your child to improve their writing by encouraging them to talk about what they see and what they are doing. Discuss with the children how the writer they are reading uses words.
