CREATE & FOLLOW A DAILY SCHEDULE Students should: ● ● ● ● Wake up before 9 am every day Get dressed into clean clothes Schedule specific time for focusing on schoolwork Schedule time for brain and body breaks Be sure to eat 3 healthy meals Go to sleep at a reasonable hour ○ Aim for 8 -10 hours of sleep each night Write your schedule down Stick to your schedule

PLANNING FOR SCREEN TIME ● Remember: Students will already be using their Chromebook a lot for distance education! ● Many people begin experiencing “computer fatigue” after just 4 -5 hours of screen time ○ Make sure to start the day by doing school first ○ Before starting, close all non-school tabs so they do not get distracted Tip: If you have an i. Phone, use “Screen Time” to set limits!
CREATE A DEDICATED SCHOOL SPACE ● Find a space in the house to designate as “School Space” ● This could be an area with ○ minimal distractions ○ good lighting ○ a flat work surface (desk, kitchen table, coffee table, etc. ) ● Avoid schoolwork in bed, if possible
STAY ORGANIZED Students should: (with parent/guardian assistance) ● ● ● Keep track of assignments: ○ Use an agenda ○ Create a Google Calendar ○ Create a weekly To-Do list Clean up workspace at the end of every day to start fresh in the morning Organize Google Drive with folders for each class Math SS Science ELA
USE PROPER ETIQUETTE FOR VIDEO CONFERENCING Students should: (with parent/guardian assistance) ● ● ● Set up your Chromebook in a quiet space & be mindful of the background setting Turn microphone off if not actively speaking ○ Avoid participating in side chatter on or off screen Use headphones, if available

BUILD YOUR STUDY SKILLS Students should: ● Read over their notes ● Utilize any study materials the teacher provides ● Make a study guide ● Make flash cards ● Ask others to quiz them (or call up a friend!) ● Use Quizzizz or Kahoot to practice tests
STAY UPDATED ● Daily ○ Check every morning for instructions from teachers ○ Check ALL of the Canvas/Google Classrooms ■ Look for upcoming assignments ■ Read through announcements ○ Check your teachers’ websites
REACH OUT FOR HELP ● ● ● Make sure you know how to get a hold of the teacher to ask questions: ○ Email ○ Office Hours Know how to access the school counselor for support Ask for help if you need it ○ Teachers and school counselors are here to help!
KNOW & USE YOUR RESOURCES ● ● Khan Academy Brain Pop Quizizz Kahoot! *Check teachers’ websites - they often post recommended resources for further learning and practice!
STAY CONNECTED ● ● It is important for your mental health to stay connected with friends and family during this uncertain time! Set up phone calls or video calls for virtual play-dates Send emails or make phone calls to older or less tech-savvy family members, like grandparents Send snail mail to make someone’s day!
PRACTICE SELF-CARE ● ● Self-Care: The things we do to take care of our mental and physical selves, especially in times of high stress or emotion ● ● ● ● Color in a coloring book Take a walk (maintaining > 6 ft distance from others) Read a book Listen to music Watch a movie Journal Connect with a friend or family member Exercise Play a board game Meditate
