GEOGRAPHY - Maps
DIFFERENT TYPES OF MAPS This sketch map of a local area shows the features like roads, shops and parks to help people get around the town.
This map of the United Kingdom shows, the different countries (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Irelend), main cities and the seas which surround it. Can you find Nottingham on the map? You could use this sort of map to plan a journey – which city would it be best for pirates to set sail from? Which seas might they sail on?
This is an Ordinance Survey map which you might need if you were going on a walk in the countryside.
USING A BEEBOT TO FIND TREASURE Use the treasure map on the next page. You can draw on some extra features if you want. Cut out the Bee Bot and the X. Place the X in one of the squares then challenge yourself (or someone else) to see if they can program the Bee. Bot to the find the treasure. Place the X in different places. Record the moves on the instruction cards.
