THE DISTINCTIONS OF HELL & ITS INHABITANTS

SHEOL / HADES: HADES “The Grave” or “The Pit. ” It is a place of departed souls & spirit beings

INHABITANTS: INHABITANTS Souls of unbelievers / Satan & his angels (Psalm 9: 17; 55: 15, Isaiah 5: 14; 14: 15 Luke 10: 15, Luke 16: 23, 1 Cor. 15: 55)

TARTARUS: TARTARUS “The Abyss” or “The Bottomless Pit. ” It is a place of confinement; the deepest part of hell.

INHABITANTS: INHABITANTS Some fallen angels / Satan will be confined there a while (2 Peter 2: 4, Jude: 6, Rev. 20: 2 -3)

GEHENNA: GEHENNA “The Lake of Fire” It is a state of unending fire and brimstone; the final judgment.

INHABITANTS: INHABITANTS Anti-Christ / false prophet / Satan & his angels / All unbelievers (Matt. 25: 41, Rev. 19: 20; 20: 10, 15)

WHERE IS HELL LOCATED?

SHEOL / HADES is probably located somewhere in the depths of the earth (Num. 16: 30, Isa. 14: 9, 15, Ezek. 26: 20; 31: 14; 32: 18) Compartments of hell: hell Luke 16, Acts 2: 27 -31

THE LAKE OF FIRE is probably located somewhere in the universe (Rev. 14: 10 -11) TARTARUS could be anywhere, and not confined to the depths of the earth (bottomless analogy).

FACTORS ABOUT HELL

1. Hell is a temporary holding place; it is not the final place of judgment. 2. (Revelation 20: 13 -14)

2. Hell & the lake of fire are not controlled or owned by Satan. (Matt. 25: 41, Revelation 1: 18)

3. There will be no rest for the wicked. (Revelation 14: 11; 20: 10)

4. The fire in hell & the lake will never consume you, but you will burn. (Matt. 13: 42, Revelation 20: 10)

5. Hell possibly has gates or fencing (Isa. 38: 10, Job 17: 16, Matt. 16: 18)
