Hebrews: 4: 14 -10: 18 His Superiority to Aaron v Type, Typology v Branch of biblical interpretation in which an element found in the OT prefigures one found in the NT. The initial one is called the “type” and the fulfillment is designated the “antitype. ” Either type or antitype may be a person, thing, or event, but often the type is messianic and frequently refers to salvation.

Hebrews: 4: 14 -10: 18 His Superiority to Aaron Everything that the author says about Melchizedek, he is saying about Jesus, because Melchizedek is a ‘type’ of Christ. Everything that makes Melchizedek superior to Abraham applies also to Christ. Everything that makes Melchizedek superior to Levitical Priesthood and the law also applies to Christ.
Hebrews: 4: 14 -10: 18 His Superiority to Aaron • In Hebrews 7: 1 -3 three similarities are shown to exist between the Lord Jesus and Melchizedek. (1) The names are similar (cf. Isa. 9: 6; Jer. 23: 6; Eph. 2: 14). (2) Both are different from other priests. (3) Both abide forever. In type he continues because no genealogy of Melchizedek is found in the Scriptures nor is there a record of his death. (7: 18 -19) v The former regulation (the Law) set aside (7: 18) v A new covenant introduced (7: 19) - In verses 18 -19 (men … de) the contrast is made between the two systems of Aaron and Melchizedek. The one is ineffective and the other makes it possible for believers to draw near to God. This contrast is seen in the translation of "on the one hand. . . on the other hand. " Because of the better hope Christians have faith to draw near to God.

Priests are holy in that they are set apart, but not blameless, pure and exalted above the heavens. HP’s could not meet all the needs of all the people. Jesus can.

It is the completion and the fulfillment of the sacrificial system and the end of the Mosaic covenant.
