Objections Matthew 5: 12 “Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. ” If the reward is in heaven, then there are two possibilities: a) The righteous go to heaven to obtain it b) The reward comes from heaven to the righteous (here on earth) Matthew 16: 27 – “For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. ”

Objections 1 Peter 3: 19 “By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; ” When Jesus died he did not preach to men in hell ‘Spirits in prison’ is an expression for a person in bondage to sin and death. Prison has this association in the following passages: Isaiah 42: 6, 7; Isaiah 61: 1; Ephesians 2: 1+2
