Why we need Threshold? ØThe temperature at which heat becomes painful for a recipient

Why we need Threshold? ØThe temperature at which heat becomes painful for a recipient is called the heat threshold at that time ØThreshold allows to identify conditions that are harmful to people ØThreshold helps us understanding the Temperature – Mortality (Heat - Health) relationship in a given region. ØIt helps decision makers to issue or trigger warning for general public and take necessary actions during extreme heat events. ØIt helps us to design our interventions, plan our communication strategies for vulnerable groups, create warning categories and helps us in focus on adaptation and long term mitigation strategies ØTSDPS proposes to take up the exercise of fixing the region specific threshold values for declaration of heat waves based on Mortality / Morbidity rates.
