Telangana State-At a Glance Total Area - 1. 14 Lakh Sq. km. Total population – 3. 52 Crores(2011 census). Literacy rate - 64. 46%. Climate and Temperature Telangana is a semi-arid zone and has a predominantly hot & dry climate. In Telangana region, the Avg maximum temperature - 40 o. C to 43 o. C in May Avg minimum temperature - 13 o. C to 17 o. C in Dec & Jan. Minimum temperature falls to less than 10 o. C on certain days Rainfall The State receives Normal rainfall of 906 mm from South-West (June–September) Monsoon – 80% North–East (October–November) Monsoon Humidity Monsoon - 80% Summer - 25 to 30%.
Telangana State- Vulnerability The state of Telangana faces natural and manmade vulnerabilities in the form of: ØWater & Climate Related Hazards (eg. , droughts, rainfall deficiency, ground water stress and other emerging climate induced hazards like Heatwave etc) ØGeologically Related Disasters ØChemical & Industrial Disasters ØAccident & Other Disasters (including terror risks and urban specific risks keeping in consideration the relatively high rate of urbanization in Telangana State) ØBiologically Related Disasters (health epidemics, eg. , emerging threats such as H 5 N 1 induced Avian flu, Swine flu etc)

Weather Forecast ØWeather Forecast for 72 hours on 12 KM resolution Weather Research Forecast (WRF) Model ØDisseminating to all the users and District Officials through email, Whats. App. The authenticity of the forecast is 70 to 80%. Real Time Maximum Temperature forecast for next 3 days
LED Weather Display Boards LED Display boards are installed at District Hqs. In the premises of Collectorates (31) and in Hyderabad in 10 locations. • Real-time Weather Data pertaining to Rainfall, Temperature, Humidity and Wind Speed are displayed on the LED boards to take precautionary measures for Disaster Management. • Colour code is adopted for alerts. • LED boards have come to operation since December 2018. 11
Mobile Application TSDPS mobile app provides Real time weather information pertaining to Temperature, Rainfall(mm), humidity and wind speed /direction instantly from the current location. This mobile app TS Weather can be downloaded from Google play store.
