Focus Our main aim with this unit is to get you to understand your health so you can better care for yourselves and take responsibility for those you end up caring for in your life. The personal health plan is a vital part of this process and you must give it maximum priority We want you to be able to make informed choices about your health.
Your responsibilities 1. Learning. You must understand that topics covered must be learnt. We will have little time in class to reinforce learning. 2. Develop and carry out your Health Plan. Failure to do this will result in very poor marks in your project sections. Guidance on completion of sections will be provided. 3. Actively contribute to presentations and workshop sessions – these will be assessed.

Sports sessions These are an integral part of the course Attendance is compulsory. Missed classes are recorded as absences on blackboard as they would be with me. You must join the allotted group You will be assessed on effort and improvement not on the actual standard of your performance. These assessments contribute to partial and final grades!

Homework Write one page in your own words about your impressions of key health issues facing your society. I expect to see some evidence that you have researched this and can quote some statistics relating to Mexico – and have provided references. You must also add your own perceptions – what seems most relevant to you among the people you know?

Writing English – Key points Always write in sentences. Keep sentences short. Put one idea per sentence. Each concept must have its own paragraph. It really helps to have sub headings and to stick to the subject under discussion. Start sentence with the point you are trying to make. Spell check and grammar check. Read it back – or get someone else to do so to check it makes sense.
