How – Wage. Works (now Health. Equity) initiated a Test Data Management & Archival initiative in 2018 – Wage. Works purchased Optim Test Data Management in December 2018 – We leveraged a leading IBM partner, Estuate, to implement the solution. – Estuate worked closely with Wage. Works’ Dev/Test team to implement Optim for creating right-sized database subsets for one of its core applications, V 5, and apply data masking to secure sensitive data in the database 5

Lessons What – Identify a technical expert/team who can take ownership of Optim tool/ knowledge, builds expertise and acts as a go-to SME. – Do a phased approach • Data modeling & testing on a dedicated environment • Training & documentation (solution design documents & user manual) – Set masking on the Optim. DB (source) if the masking rules are not changing frequently, so the time for load-to-target is less – When doing ETL, disable constraints, indexes, etc. • This makes the load process easy. • Look out for RI and child & parent-related dependency issues. – Work with teams to find the commonly-used subsetting criteria (Extract/Mask/Load) 7
