GLOSSARY OF TERMS, CONCEPT MAPS AND CUE CARDS • MUST know the definition of the terms that are specific to the subject and topic covered. • Helps in answering SAC and EXAM Questions. • Develop concept maps and cue cards about various topics.
GLOSSARY OF TERMS:
IMPORTANCE OF A GLOSSARY • It is imperative that you are familiar with the subject specific terms used in the study covered. • Keep a glossary of term from DAY 1!!! • Use cue card or a specific note book. • If you are a visual learner you can use images to help you remember a particular term. • Try to identify key works in a definition that will trigger your memory. • Becoming familiar with your key terms will mean you can successfully answer SAC questions and EXAM questions. • START FROM DAY 1!
DECODING THE QUESTION • To successfully answer a question you need to be able to understand what the question is asking you. • Is it a recall of knowledge or application question? • What are the instruction verb and what does it mean, what do I need to do (discuss, identity or analyse)? • What are the subject specific terms and what do they mean? • Let’s go through the documents.
INTERPRETATION OF DATA • Data is a big part of Unit 3 and 4 HHD • You must be able to interpret the data to answer the questions. • Data will be included in most assessment tasks and WILL be part of the end of year Exam. • How do we interpret data? ? ? KATNUTS- let’s look at this!!
STIMULUS MATERIAL- CASE STUDIES • Read the questions before the stimulus material. • This will give you an idea of what to look for and what the stimulus material will be about. • Make sure to refer to stimulus material in your responses. • Let’s look at an example.
TIMELINE AND CHECK LIST • You will be given a timeline for each Unit (an AOS at a time) • This will list all the key knowledge and key skills (they will be clearly linked in the timeline) • Activities linked to the key knowledge and key skills will be listed. • Dates of assessment will be identified. • This document also includes a column for you to use as a check to mark off once you have complete a set task (class and homework) • I will also be keeping records of the completion of your tasks
