Hazardous Materials Awareness Level �OSHA 1910. 120(g)(6)(i) ○ First responders at the awareness level are individuals who are likely to witness or discover a hazardous substance release and who have been trained to initiate an emergency response sequence by notifying the proper authorities of the release. They would take no further action beyond notifying the authorities of the release. 2
Training Objectives (1 of 2) � The responder shall understand what hazardous substances are and the risks associated with them in an incident. � The responder shall have the ability to recognize and identify the presence of hazardous substances in an emergency. 3
Training Objectives (2 of 3) � The responder shall understand their role in the emergency response including site security and control and the use of the U. S. D. O. T Emergency Response Guidebook. � The responder shall have the ability to realize the need for additional resources, and to make the appropriate notifications to the communication center. 4
