His Majesty’s Speech on November 18, 1992 “There are people who believe that the beautiful green public parks of Muscat and other major cities, and question whether or not we should be using such a precious resource as water for beautification, when we could use it for drinking or farming. In fact, the irrigation of these parks and trees helps us to make the environment cleaner, and create clean and pure air for the people of these cities. Some people perhaps do not realize that, thanks to the latest technology, and due to a massive investment in infrastructure, that these parks and trees are being watered by treated wastewater, and not by drinking water. This new technology allows us to save our clean water resources for the people of Oman, who can also enjoy the parks and trees at their leisure” www. haya. om 2
