Have you ever looked at your favourite apps and thought… I could do that better!

Well here’s your chance! We are running a competition to create your own social media platform.

What will you create? Perhaps you will make something that has all the good bits from other social networks? Maybe you’ll focus on making a social network that is all about fun and being positive? ? Or maybe you’ll decide to design something completely new; a never before seen social media platform that breaks the mould?

Once you’ve come up with a design, you’ll need to present it to a group of judges made up of teachers from your school. They’ll score your idea across a number of areas and decide the overall winner in your school.

Identify a need Think about who your social media platform will be for. Would it be for your age group? For everyone? Who is your audience?

Plan your platform There are lots of different things you need to think about when creating a social media platform. Check out the

Make your pitch You will need to put together a short presentation of 2 -3 minutes to deliver to the judges so they can fully understand your great ideas. Who? – Think about who in your team is going to give the presentation. Will it be one person or more of the team? How? – How will you get the judges’ attention? You could create presentation slides but you can be as creative as you like in sharing your ideas – it could be through images and designs, a video, a rap or even a short drama piece!

Celebrate success! Whether you win this competition or not, you may still have discovered the next great thing in social media, or thought up some really helpful ideas on how to meet the needs of others online. You may have also learned how to work as part of a team, how to communicate and how to plan.
