HARDWARE • This refers to the physical parts or components of the computer that can be felt.

CATEGORIES OF COMPUTER HARDWARE Computer hardware can be grouped into five (5) parts • Input devices • Processing devices • Output devices • Storage devices • Communication devices

INPUT DEVICES These are devices that feed the computer with raw data and instructions to the computer. Examples of input devices are • Stylus • Mouse • Keyboard • Camera • Scanner • Joystick

PROCESSING DEVICES These are devices that transforms entered data into useful information. Examples pf processing devices are • CPU (example Pentium and AMD processors) • Motherboard

OUTPUT DEVICES These are devices that displays useful information to a computer user. Examples are • Monitor • Printer • Speaker

STORAGE DEVICES These are hardware devices or medium used to save information to be used later. There are two types of storage devices; Primary storage and secondary storage devices. Examples of storage devices includes • Hard disk • Floppy disk • CD

COMMUNICATION DEVICES • These are hardware devices used to transfer or move information from one computer to the other, Examples are • Routers • Network cards
