HARBOR SOCCER CLUB VP Operations Report: Club Program Director – Jon Shuette • Even though the number of players and teams were down this year over last, 63% or 7 out of 11 teams are in the top four of their divisions. • This year the club switched to a two year uniform rotation. We hoped to lessen the number of uniforms and increase the quality of them. The green away jerseys were Under Armor. • This year we created a Select team that is playing in the North Puget Sound League. Our hope was to lessen the gap between the Recreational and Premier clubs. The 2004 Girls team, coached by Karsten Caviezel are currently in second place in division two with the most goals scored. • We have two teams, Michael Ulrigg's 2004 girls team and Jeff Flaskerud's 2001 boys team in the 2017 SSUL Rec cup
HARBOR SOCCER CLUB VP Operations Report: Premier Program Director – Oscar Canas The 2017 numbers are down from 2016 numbers overall with 393 players/31 teams in 2017 and 444 players/36 teams in 2016. Girls side U 13 -U 18 2017 - 127 players with 8 teams 2016 - 124 players with 8 teams U 9 -U 12 2017 - 60 players with 5 teams 2016 – 56 players with 5 teams Jr. Academy 2017 – 9 players with 1 team 2016 – 25 players with 3 teams Boys side U 13 -U 18 2017 - 88 players with 6 teams 2016 - 111 players with 7 teams U 9 -U 12 2017 - 85 players with 7 teams 2016 – 90 players with 8 teams Jr. Academy 2017 – 24 players with 4 team 2016 – 38 players with 5 teams
HARBOR SOCCER CLUB VP Operations Report: Premier Program Director – Oscar Canas • Referee coverage has been at its best in coverage of games with very limited issues during games • First year in going with a sublimated uniform, while lead time is a factor and working on shorting it overall is a nice uniform. • 2001 girls is the first team in club history to make it to Regionals and had a great performance in Utah coming up shy in the finals. • While the relationship within our Programs have improved over the years it must get better and find a way to get the U 7 -U 10 players and Coaches throughout the entire club on the same page in Development regardless of the path the player chooses to take after U 10. Working together at these ages is only beneficial to the player/coach/club and once we all see it we then, the Club, will be STRONGER.
HARBOR SOCCER CLUB VP Competition Report: FIELD USAGE: (Kevin Gray) All Programs have adopted a great sharing attitude toward field space and goals. Huge thanks to all the coaches and Program Directors for working together towards common goals for HSC. New Ideas including sharing of GHHS for training and games with Premier to help get Recreation programs get some turf time. FIELD MAINTENANCE: Many Fields were put in better shape By PSD for the Fall along with TCC. Lower rains in October helped fields last longer and then we finished on turf in December. TCC parking lot got a long over due make over thanks to large donation by Walraths for 40 yards of materials and operation of a tractor by Phil Hayden. TCC and Light House got sanding before rains hit and ideas for better drainage at TCC field is being employed to help for ongoing problem for next spring. Roy Anderson had turf replaced by the fall Season and we were able to get a few teams over there to play on the new pitch. REFEREES: Referee coverage was at an all time high this year with coverage for most weekends above 85% for all games. We had a lot of new referees that are continuing to be trained, but without them we would have had parents refereeing again instead of watching there kids play. A huge thank you goes out to all the coaches and parents that supported our influx of new referees. This influx of referees is a direct result of our mentorship part of our referee program, by reaching out and educating potential referees and letting them know HSC is supporting them through the referee process. Please continue to give us feed back and support all of our referees. Harbor sponsored a referee clinic to help recruit new referees to the area. We had a great turnout of young referees, but we still are in need of more adult referees which are in high demand. See www. wareferees. org to sign up.
HARBOR SOCCER CLUB VP Competition Report (Con’t): (Kevin Gray) SCHEDULES: Jennifer did another great job getting the schedules done this year. Huge thank you to all the coaches and managers for following our home scheduling rules to allow us to provide better schedules that were put out more than a month ahead. South Sound United League, for the third year in a row, tested us with a lot of issues with scheduling due to changes made by WYS last minute to make it tuff on scheduler. GOOD OF THE GAME: With Changes to SSUL and NPSL in WYS we have been playing games further away from the Harbor, meeting new teams and making new friendships with other clubs.
