Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying Prevention Brenna Vicente
If you, as a teacher, know that a student is being cyberbullied you should talk to the victim and find out as much as you can about the situation Overview You should refer the student to the guidance counselor so he or she can talk out his or her problems You should have a sit down with the person who is bullying and explain to them what they are doing is wrong If the actions continue, you should get administrative staff involved. Get the parents involved so they can monitor the child’s online activity
Marking Period One Campaign The school will begin by creating a safe environment for all of its students Students will make posters that display unity through teamwork slogans or showing unity of different students through pictures and/or words.
Marking Period Two Campaign Students will get in groups of 4 or 5 and make a skit that involved HIB or cyberbullying and show to stop a situation when one sees it.
Partner Project Students will be assigned a partner at random in their grade level There will be two, three week sessions throughout the marking period Marking Period Three Campaign First session: The students will have two weeks to get to know their partner At the end of this time frame, students will create a poster that highlights positive characteristics of their partner. This can include but not limited to an acrostic poem or a web with the persons name in the middle. These posters can be hung in the hallway. Second Session: The partners will create a poster together where they put into their own words why diversity is good. They can decorate the poster however they choose. These can be hung in the classroom or hallway.
Photography Project Marking Period Four Campaign Each student will be responsible for taking a picture or two, or shoot a short video (10 -30 seconds) showing students or staff in the anti-HIB norm. Each class will compile their pictures and videos together into one video that will play at an end of the year assembly The point of this is to show the school has come together and to create a positive climate
