Definition of Image/ Imagery �An image is a mental picture that is conjured by specific words and associations, but there can be auditory and sensory components to imagery as well.

Definition of Inference/Infer �To draw a reasonable conclusion from the information presented.

Example of Inference/ Infer �When you play Clue, the object of the game is to make inferences to be able to accuse someone of committing the murder.

Definition of Invective �An emotionally violent, verbal denunciation or attack using strong, abusive language.

Example of Invective �You must have been a chicken in a previous life. � This causes you to infer the abusiveness within the invective statement. ; -)

Definition of Irony/ Ironic �Occurs when a situation produces an outcome that is the opposite of what is expected.
