FAST BREAK ACTIVIT • Split the group into teams of 4 students. Y • Place a series of cones/markers in a zigzag pattern with each cone approx. 2 m apart. Ensure there are 5 cones on each side of the zigzag. • One player stands on the first cone of the zigzag with a ball, another player stands on the second cone (on the opposite side). The two remaining players stand behind the start line. • On the whistle all 4 players break up the court and occupy free cones to allow the ball to be passed in the zigzag formation to the end point. • If the ball is dropped or a section of zigzag is missed no score is given. • Any pass type can be used; chest, bounce, overhead etc. SCORING SYSTEM • • • SCHOOL GAMES VALUE Teamwork is vital in this challenge, make sure pupils are communicating with eachother and encouraging other teams. COVID-19 Make sure to sanitize your equipment thoroughly before working with the next bubble. INCLUDE MORE STUDENTS Some students may need more support, don’t worry about the time and help them get the ball to the end of the course. Time how long it takes each team to complete the course successfully. Players must be stood within 0. 5 m (approx. ) of the correct cone when receiving the ball. If the ball is dropped or an incorrect pass is made the attempt ends. EQUIPMEN • T Handball/dodgeball/small football. • 10 cones per group. • Stopwatch. Place two cones at 3 m, 5 m and 8 m from the wall using different coloured cones to differentiate between the distances. Place 1 ball on top of each cone. Pupils start by touching the wall, on the whistle they run to collect a ball, turn and shoot on the spot. A goal is scored if the ball is thrown inside the hoop, without it touching the floor or hoop sides. The pupil then returns to the start point before going for their next ball and shot. Pupils have 1 min to complete their 6 shots. • • SCORING SYSTEM • Goal scored from 3 m away = 2 points, 5 m away = 3 points, 8 m away = 5 points.
