Hampshire Spatial Framework Presentation for Hampshire 2050 Partnership Prepared by LUC Jon Pearson 8 July 2021
Purpose of the Framework • Identified need for whole-county spatial framework for the natural environment + a Hampshire-wide understanding of strategic infrastructure needs. • Framework seeks to occupy a space not filled by Local Plans. • Considering a longer timeframe than Local Plans, through to 2050. • Enabling a shared understanding of key issues and related opportunities. • A document to guide the plans and strategies of constituent districts. Broad approach to developing the Framework Describe baseline and identify key issues and objectives across 10 themes Use these to develop a series of infrastructure and natural environment opportunities across the County for the period 2020 -2050. 1. 20 -minute neighbourhoods: a network of healthier, greener, walkable hubs 7. New 'green lungs': green space and living woodlands for all 2. Connecting urban areas: rapid transit links and mobility hubs on major movement corridors. 8. Energy generation: stepping up the deployment of renewable sources 3. A new logistics: a network of future-proofed mobility hubs 9. River restoration zones: shaping wild 'sponge' landscapes 4. Hampshire's Wild Belt: 30% of land managed for nature 10. Rethinking our landscapes: Nature restoration and reform at scale via the National Parks and AONBs 5. A National Marine Park for the Solent 11. Combatting Water Stress 6. Reconnecting communities with their energy supply LUC |
