What is justice? Directions: By yourself read though each case and determine if the case and punishment are fair and just. Case A: Joe is caught shoplifting (stealing) a cell phone from Best Buy. Joe is 15 years old, and its his first offense. The police call his parents and Joe returns the phone with no criminal record. It is fair to Joe? Is it fair to Best Buy? Is it fair to society? Is it in the best interest of society?

Jack is 19 years old, and this is his third felony conviction – all for shoplifting. Because of the Three Strikes Law, he is required to serve a minimum of 10 years in prison with no chance of parole. It is fair to Jack? Is it fair to Best Buy? Is it fair to society? Is it in the best interest of society?
